Does anyone have one? (Moderated by Sharon1952, EleanorSews)

I'm looking at a used Viking Husqvarna 330 Sew Easy sewing machine but I can't find any info / user reviews on it online. Does anyone have one or know of these? I'm a beginner wanting a solid machine that can last, looking to do primarily garments including stretchy knits and jeans, no quilting or embroidery. About when were these manufactured, and are they as high quality and solid as the other Vikings? I'm afraid that the reason I'm not finding info on these are that they were duds as a model.. Thanks so much for your help!

you may find some info at the Husqvarna Viking website. I am thinking the 330 falls into the #5 category. I believe the others in the category are similar but not the same.http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/global/media/brochures_online/special_leaflet_for_hv_acc_users_guide_090520.pdf

What does the #5 category mean? Is it a low end machine? Thanks!

kkoizumi, I think what the Canandian meant about the machine falling into the #5 catagory refers to the way Viking groups their machines as to which feet or accessories to purchase for a certain model. For instance if you were purchasing a foot at the Viking dealer and it was on a rack you would know which foot to get for your machine. The foot will come on a card and it will specify.this foot fits group #5 and #6 machines.etc. For instance lets make believe an example.they might have several different stippling feet but say the foot for group #1 can not be used on a machine that is in Group #6. Also when buying on line from different sites you will know you are getting the proper foot or other accessory for your machine by knowing which group your machine is in. My Viking is in group #6.
Viking shows the differnet machines by numbered groups in the front pages of their accessory catalogs. You can also see the groups on the Sewmachin221sale.bizland website listed under pressure feet and the 330 is listed in group #5 and I believe that Viking also shows the groups in the on line accessory catalog.

This is, I believe, a mechanical machine. Same general body style as the Preludes, the Daisy, the yellow one that's so pretty and I forget the name, and my Madison. All sturdy mechanicals. I find those Vikings to be very good, solid machines. Most likely there isn't much on them because this machine was not one of the more expensive, and those machines which are more expensive are the ones likely to have more on them on the web - this I have found also. Not really tied to how good a machine is. Have you seen and tried it, and how much are they asking? ------

Muffet is the yellow machine your forgot the name of the 'Lena' or was it another yellow one. I know there was another yellow one but the Lena I also thought very pretty and it was the last yellow one Viking made, I believe and made shortyl before your Madison.
I agree, these are nice machines, and Muffet you know because you own one of these. These mechanical all were very similar with maybe one or a couple of different stitches or in a different color and they were made in Sweden.
Viking does have some of their other models like the Huskystars, Emeralds etc. that were not made in Sweden where some of these were made by Janome and maybe other companies for Viking that are also included in the numbered groups and the numbers are not tied to how good the machine is.just what accessories will fit that machine.
